Nutrition Basics and Goal Setting

This week is all about building a good foundation for healthy change. Any time you’re trying to make changes, develop new healthy habits and break old ones, it’s good to know where you are starting from and where you want to end up. That’s why this week is all about setting goals and discovering how to measure your progress.

In this week’s session, we’ll discuss the best approach to setting goals. It MORE than just setting a resolution. Whether or not you realize it, perhaps one of the biggest reasons you might have struggled in the past is because of the approach you took with your goals.

In addition to goal setting, we’ll be taking a closer look at your diet and any changes you may want to make. We’ll cover a foundation of basic nutrition skills, portion control and understanding nutritional labels.

Complete the Introduction section of the Online Course

-Read through your Welcome Packet if you have not already done so.

Week 1 Homework Assignment

-Any type of successful change, requires setting successful goals. Download and Print the Goals Worksheet. Write 3 Goals you have for the course of this program.

- Goals Worksheet Download

-Please post your finished goals to the Facebook Group. You can take a photo of your worksheet and post or type out your goals.

-Take a look at the goals others have posted and provide encouragement, constructive feedback and motivate with “Likes” and “Comments”.

Action Challenge

-Login to MyFitnessPal and setup your account. The program has a Guided Setup designed to help you reach your goals.

-Track your food for the week. No need to be mindful of making any changes at this point. It’s good to get a baseline of how you’re doing now so you can better measure your changes later.

-Facebook Discussion Question – After tracking your diet/activity level for the week, what areas to you feel are your weaknesses? Strengths? Leave a comment/discussion on the Facebook Action Challenge thread for this week.
